Spring Pottery

Two years ago, I made a series of relief prints based on images of pottery on tables and dressers. Interested in going back to making sculptural objects, I decided to use what I had at my immediate disposal – my printing press and a favorite book from Russell’s shelf, Les Arts Décoratifs Modernes with vintage Art Deco photographs of interiors and crafts of the day. This spring, instead of printing pottery I have been making pottery. Focusing on a classic jar form to advance my wheel throwing skills, using white clay and gunmetal glaze for form and graphic play.
