We are pleased that five of the artists in the upcoming exhibition, Monoprint opening this Saturday at the Tanja Grunert Gallery in Hudson, New York were done in association with master printer, Janis Stemmermann on the press at Russell Janis Studio in Brooklyn.
Tanja Grunert is pleased to announce the exhibition MONOPRINT.
The monoprint is a form of printmaking where the image is only to be made once, rather than in most printmaking where focus is on creating multiple originals. An impression is pulled from a reprintable block such as an etched plate or woodblock but in such a way that only one of its kind exists. Differing from prints made from a variety of printing elements that can change from one impression to the next or those painted or otherwise reworked by hand either before or after printing, monoprinting has a unique beauty derived from its spontaneity and allowance for combinations of printmaking, painting and drawing media. The exhibition runs through Sunday, June 23, 2024.
