In 1993, Russell began mailing out hand-drawn catalogs to contextualize and sell objects he was making in his studio. In recent months, during the process of relocating our archives to Fiddlestyx in Northwest CT, we decided to showcase this beautiful body of work. We photographed the pieces, made a new catalog and now a selection of the objects are installed at Russell Janis to be enjoyed.
“The items in this catalog are produced by me in Brooklyn, NY. . . considering the nature of architectural space and objects it contains and the power of both to spark memory and a sense of value in one’s very being.”
– Russell Steinert, 1993
Spacial Etc. is on view by sidewalk only through May 16
