At Russell Janis Studio
April 1 – 22
Making prints takes a unique perspective: the sense of space, arrangement and materials used in printing are necessarily different than in other forms of art. This spring, we are hosting a printmaking workshop in a series of Saturday mornings at Russell Janis studio. Instructed by Janis Stemmermann, the workshop will focus on a simple, hands-on approach to printmaking and its possibilities.
The Folly Cove Designer Collective was a guild of designer-craftsmen who worked together from 1941 until 1969 in Cape Ann, Massachusetts making hand-printed textiles. Using their approach, this print-and-pattern workshop will take you through fundamentals of thinking in print as well as giving you all the tools to continue on in your own home studio. The finished prints can be used as home decorative textiles or simply use the experience to enrich your art-making practice. April 1 – 22.
